New Bethel Community COGIC

Church Synopsis:

In the year 1946, God spoke to Elder Alfred Gregg, the founder of BETHEL and said, "Go to Schenectady, and do a work for Me". Lay aside everything that stands in your way and go. Always, remember, I will be with you always. As the road may be rugged, I will be right by your side, just when you need me the most!"

On May 7, 1963, Elder Gregg finished his work and God called him home from his labor to his reward. Several Pastors were appointed to Bethel these Pastors included: Elder W. O. Anderson, Elder C. Foulks, Elder James Griffin, and Elder Clarence Christian.

In 1978, Elder Lee Jackson was appointed pastor and served for seventeen years with Mother Jackson by his side. In 1995, Elder Jackson retired and relocated to Florida. Elder & Mother Jackson will always be apart of this great work as they are currently faithful in their support to the ministry as a Father and Mother, true pillars in the Lord.

In October 1996, God opened up a "Window from Heaven" and poured out a blessing for Elder Vincent E. Teague to serve as the Pastor of Bethel Church of God in Christ of New York #1 Western Jurisdiction, under Presiding Prelate, Bishop LeRoy R. Anderson.

As a chief servant, Pastor Teague encourages the congregation to “Catch The Vision”. As one body, the member’s of Bethel, re-designed and enhanced the 428 Paige Street edifice, purchased a new church van, new chairs and school buses. Being led of God, Pastor Vincent E. Teague re-named the church New Bethel Community "NBC" Church Of God In Christ.

In July 1999, the NBC family marched to their 839 Albany Street Worship Facility. For the next five years, God tremendously moved and the congregation grew. Souls were saved, bodies were healed and yokes were destroyed through God's anointing.

Although Pastor Teague’s plans were to see the “vision” of 839 Street edifice come to pass, God was up to something all along!

In 2004, God revealed to Pastor Teague what He was up to and the NBC church family caught God’s “Perfect Vision” and moved into their new edifice located here at “2020” Broadway in the "Electric City" of Schenectady!

We, the NBC church family can say…"all is well, getting better and the best is yet to come, as God is still up to something!"
